Food & Meals

Buffet-style meals for the weekend are provided. Brookwoods staff will be made aware of dietary needs and allergies in our group and will work to safely accommodate these guests during meals. Those with severe restrictions will also have access to a specialty foods/allergy refrigerator/freezer and microwave in the dining hall for personal use for "safe" outside foods or infant formula.

Transportation

Camp Brookwoods is about a 2 hr drive north of Boston. As not everyone has access to transportation, we'll facilitate connections to make sure everyone can get there and back! Do you need a ride to attend? Drivers, are you in the position to provide someone else with a ride to and/or from the retreat? Perhaps your household has access to more than one car and you may be willing to drive up separately to make room for a few extra passengers in your second vehicle? (SHPC will be glad to reimburse gas mileage in this case.) Let us know your situation!

Lodging

Brookwoods features a variety of housing options, including shared rooms and a limited number of private rooms. These private rooms and shared cabins are not centralized in the main building lodge, but located nearby in the surrounding campground (see a map here). Once all registrations are received, leaders will work to assign housing carefully according to individual needs and preferences as best we are able. Please read the following and make any housing requests below:

Shared Cabins - As guests are able, many will be asked to share a cabin bunk house with others from outside their household. Bunk houses feature up to 14 bunked beds with shared in-cabin bathroom facilities. Depending on retreat participation, some cabin bunk rooms may be organized by sex (women & girls in one, men & boys in another). Other cabins may be assigned, with prior permission from each household, with two couples sharing a large bunk house, or two families with similarly aged children sharing one cabin bunk house. Sharing space at the retreat is part of the adventure, a special opportunity for deeper community and connection!

Private Rooms - A limited number of private rooms with a private bath and queen bed, plus additional twin bunks/mattresses as needed and extra floor space (for a pack-n-play), will be available by request for an additional $50 fee per unit. Please understand that those with health/mobility limitations and families with young infants are given priority for private rooms. Participants with disabilities are not required to pay the private room fee. Note, some larger households requesting a private room may be assigned an entire bunk house or cabin as space allows.
Since private rooms are not guaranteed, please do not include private room fee in your payment total at this time. After room assignments have been finalized, those assigned a private room will receive a separate payment link.
*Families with infants: a handful of private rooms are grouped into a single cabin, sharing one central lounge area (ideal for households who need overflow space for a supervising parent/s while babies sleep).

Daytime-Only Attendance (without Lodging)
We'd love to have you join for any portion of the retreat! Adjusted costs are available for those who wish to attend the retreat for just a day or during the daytime, or who prefer to find their own nighttime lodging off-site. The adjusted flat rate cost includes all meals and daytime activities/programming. See "Cost & Payment" for details.

Childcare Assistance

Helpers are needed to serve in the children's spaces during our programmed retreat discussions and events. We ask that everyone who attends the retreat be a helper for 1 of the multiple retreat sessions. Logistically, this allows every adult to attend at least one of the adult sessions. Communally, this helps the adults and children in our community build relationships as they play. Helpers will join the children in reading books, building with blocks, walking in the woods, completing simple crafts, playing air hockey, or completing a planned activity. No experience necessary! All new helpers are paired with an experienced worker.

Thanks for your understanding and your willingness to help. If you have any questions, please reach out to christinecstone@sevenhillschurch.org or check the box below to be contacted.
